Everyone has played a version of the game, Pass the Message.

It starts like this.

There is a long line of people and you are instructed to Pass a verbal Message to the guy next to you.

The poor guy at the end of the line often receives a distorted and jumbled message.

Communication is more than relying messages.

You take into account the audience, their interest level, your goals and the barriers to effective communication.

Here's a basic breakdown of Useful Communications:

Verbal Messages are the words that are chosen. Paraverbal Messages are how the words are said. Nonverbal Messages explores body language.

Think about your social media outreach for a minute. Are you really engaging your audience and personalizing the message?

Or are you sending boring information and wondering why only your best friend likes your posts? This is just one type of question that a communications professional can ask and help answer.
